It is very hard for the elderly people to go for a regular checkup in a hospital that is miles away from their home. Moreover they may have some sort of disability or weekends which sometimes makes it even harder to visit hospital for routine check up like blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse rate, and for the body temperature. This is why the federal government has introduced a certification for the people who are not very educated but they have the courage to serve humanity with compassionate personality. This certification has a few week training which makes people capable to appear in exam and once you pass the exam you can start working as HHA or Home Health Aide. These are also generally known as Certified Nursing Assistant. This certification has opened new prosper doors to the people who wanted to work in a health care profession.

Home Health Aide training is based on patient care, a brief knowledge of laboratory methods, and maintaining the records for the patients. The duration for the training varies state to state. There is standard Home Health Aide training that has 11 module and students have to spend up to two hundred hours in campuses. Many schools and colleges are providing home health aide training; some of the schools and colleges are also conducting the sample exams to make their students feel more confident in certification exams. The American Red Cross is also conducting training classes for the nursing assistants under the supervision of highly skilled and experienced professionals.

There is a facility for online classes as well if you work somewhere or want to take classes while sitting at home without any class timing restrictions. The online training is more flexible and it also facilitates you with the choice of finishing the training fast or slow. Moreover if you have missed a lecture or want to clear up your concepts, you can retake a class with no restrictions at all.

Now if you are not able to pay for the training then you can join the nursing homes. These nursing homes will provide you the training and while training you will be spending some time with the patients in different wards to help them sitting, eating and with any other task required. This will help you with your practical part of training. Once you complete the certification, you will be hired by these nursing homes in order to pay back the tuition. So this employment can be temporarily and it depends on the contract you have agreed with nursing home while taking admission.

While working as Home Health Aide you will be looking after elderly citizens, people with any physical disability, and children with mental infirmity and long term illness, mental disabilities and recuperative persons. Primarily duties will include checking their pulse rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, body temperature and also with grooming, cleaning and changing the bed lines for the patients. You will be providing them psychological and emotional support as well. Other than this, you also need to assist elderly people by moving them in and out from the bed, moving wheelchairs and in prescribed diet case; you will be cooking meals for the patients as well.
